All
gifts, no matter the size, will be accepted with gratitude.
The
Foundation welcomes inquiries about gifts, which will serve
the health care needs of the community and surrounding area
now and in the future.
Donations
in excess of $100 are recognized on the Wall of Honor
within Springfield Medical Center - Mayo Health System.
Please
be aware that some ways of giving are more advantageous than
others. We suggest that you seek the advice of your attorney
and/or tax advisor when planning your gift.

Gifts
Through Your Will
You may wish to contribute to the Foundation in your will,
by naming the Foundation to receive property, a specified
amount of money, securities or bank accounts. It is important
to note the correct wording for making gifts to the Foundation.
We recommend that you utilize the attorney of your choice
when making your bequest.
Insurance
A life insurance policy can be an advantageous way to make
a gift. By assigning ownership to the Foundation, you will
receive a tax deduction for the cash value and eliminate the
proceeds of the policy from your estate. If you continue to
pay the premiums on the transferred policy, a tax deduction
is allowed for such payments.
Life
Income Gifts
It is possible for you to make a gift while retaining a life
income interest. An annuity is an example of a life income
gift. Consult your local insurance agent or attorney for other
methods of these types of gifts.
Cash
Donations and Memorials
The largest number of gifts to the Foundation are in cash
or checks, which may be made payable to the Springfield Area
Health Care Foundation. Envelopes for memorials are available
at the Springfield Medical Center and area funeral homes.

in PDF format.
Securities
The gift of a security may be an excellent way to support
the Foundation. Appreciated securities which have been held
for one year or more can be deducted at their fair market
value, without any capital gains tax.
Real
Estate
A personal residence, farm or certain other real estate may
be given to the Foundation. Such a gift may be made during
your lifetime, or through your will. Your attorney will provide
the necessary assistance for this gift.
Commodities
You can make your charitable contributions in unsold commodities.
For example, you can deliver the crop to the elevator and
have the title or warehouse receipt made out in the name of
the Foundation.
