It
is the hope of the Foundation that offering scholarships will
provide an incentive for young people to consider a health
care occupation.
There
are many shortages in health care personnel, both on a state
and national level. The shortages are in many fields, including
nursing, radiology and lab technicians, and pharmacists, to
name a few.
Since 1998 the SAHCF has given scholarships to area high school
seniors and post-secondary students interested in pursuing
health care careers, without stipulations on post-graduation
relocation.
2007
Award Recipients
The
competition for scholarships was once again keen this year
with the following students being awarded a $500 scholarship:
Ashley Lang and
Lucas Marz from Springfield
Public School; Britta Engen from Red Rock Central
High School; and Megan Madsen and
Misty McColley
from Cedar Mountain High School. Ashlee and
Britta are interested in careers in medicine, Lucas is
pursuing a career in pharmacy, and Megan and Misty are
considering careers in nursing.
